Signed up to be a #WriteMentor!

As may be seen from the tumbleweed blowing through the blog section of my website, I've been too busy trying to wrap up my SciFi trilogy to do much blogging. Or any blogging. But now, with the concluding volume The Long Forever all done and dusted and on its way to the printers, I've temporarily run out of excuses.

So today I'd like to restart my blog with news of the exciting new #WriteMentor initiative that I've signed up for. Brainchild of the remarkably industrious Stuart White - member of The Scribblers writing group and regular blogger at thescribblersonline.com/ - #WriteMentor aims to hook up currently unagented writers of MG/YA with agented and/or published author-mentors like myself.

As a #WriteMentor, I'm offering to help one qualifying 'mentee' with their query package, namely a synopsis, query letter and the first three chapters. See www.stuartwhitewriting.com/mentoring and www.stuartwhitewriting.com/eugene-lambert for the full details, including exciting opportunities for an agent showcase at the end of the mentoring programme.

PS. I wanted to call us #DeMentors but Stuart said that might give the wrong impression!

On the 9th April, the Forbidden Planet Megastore in Bristol was kind enough to host the launch of my debut SF novel for Young Adults, The Sign Of One. If you weren't there, here are some photos from the event ...
The cake - star of the show!
Me, looking suitably nervous...
My agent, Ben Illis, waxes lyrical ...
And my Egmont editor, Stella Paskins ...
Horrible cough, so my 'evil' twin, Martin, steps in to do the reading ...
Me (I think) signing books ...

Concept artwork for The Sign of One

I’ve always loved SF concept art, so when I came across the amazing Chris Goff on https://www.artstation.com/artist/goffspeed I decided to blow some of my advance on a commissioned illustration. The scene pictured is from when Kyle and Sky flee to the old windjammer station in the hills above Freshwater. The windjammer in the foreground is Sky’s beloved Rockpolisher. In the background, you can see the steam winch and Wrath’s two moons …
